\"Baby<\/a>Each time STAR rescues a homeless dog, the initial basic cost for the Vet check, spay\/neuter surgery, vaccinations, heartworm testing, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention medicine, flea\/tick preventative, grooming requirements and microchipping, totals well over $500. This initial cost is the bare minimum for a rescue that is considered to be relatively healthy, and does not include any Vet costs for the sick or our heartworm positive dogs. \u00a0Costs are substantially higher for sick or injured rescues. Daily care and food are also not included in the above costs. We do not receive any funding. We care & provide for the animals from our own donated funds, along with any donations received from the public.<\/p>\n

The largest expenditures in Rescue involve veterinary and medical care. If you would like to help, we graciously accept donations. Please feel free to donate directly by clicking on our Donate button or by mailing in a donation to our address. No donation is too small. A donor may also choose to donate directly to our Vet clinic towards the care of one of our specific rescued animals. We appreciate anything you contribute to saving our next needy animal. With your help, it brings us closer to rescuing and re-homing another.<\/p>\n

If you would like to donate items, they can be mailed to our address or one of our volunteers would happily pick up at your location. \u00a0We are always in need of the following:<\/p>\n

Leads, toys, shampoo, brushes, animal beds, and flea and tick medicines such as Frontline Plus or Advantage.<\/p>\n

Food: we use \u00a0Chicken Soup for Adult Dogs and Premium Edge (both puppy and adult). Food can be canned or dry. Gift certificates from pet stores are also graciously accepted.<\/p>\n
